Polystyrene
Polystyrene (PS) is a polymer synthesized from styrene monomers via free radical addition polymerization. Its chemical formula is (C8H8)n. It is a colorless, transparent thermoplastic with a glass transition temperature above 100℃. Therefore, it is often used to make various disposable containers that need to withstand boiling water temperatures, as well as disposable foam lunch boxes.

Operational issues in measuring the level of polystyrene liquid
At the beginning of the 20th century, the measurement of polystyrene level was a major challenge for the petrochemical industry. At that time, a domestic enterprise had used various level measuring instruments, but the results were not ideal. Finally, after consulting various parties, a radar level gauge from a foreign brand was used, and the measurement achieved the expected effect. Today, let's take a look at the working conditions that need to be considered when using a radar level gauge to measure polystyrene in a molten state.
Issues in the recycling and reuse of waste polystyrene plastics, both domestically and internationally
Large-scale, enclosed recycling plants have undeniable advantages, but they are expensive to operate and are only suitable for areas with a large amount of waste polystyrene, especially waste polystyrene foam. For general waste polystyrene foam, large-scale collection is difficult, so investing in large-scale recycling plants or workshops currently faces certain difficulties in China. Smaller, simpler recycling equipment is more suitable for the Chinese situation.
Uses and synthesis of polystyrene
Polystyrene is a polymer produced by the addition polymerization of styrene monomers. It is a high molecular weight compound. Polystyrene was first obtained from a volatile oil in natural resin. In 1930, IG Farbenindustrie in Germany first carried out a trial production using a continuous bulk polymerization method, and subsequently achieved industrial production, being one of the earliest developed plastics. In 1982, its annual output was second only to polyethylene and polyvinyl chloride.
Analysis of China's polystyrene production, capacity, operating rate, import and export, and price trend in 2021
China's polystyrene production capacity has continued to grow. Data shows that in 2019-2021, China's polystyrene production capacity was 3.686 million tons, 3.85 million tons, and 4.55 million tons, respectively.
Properties and characteristics of Polystyrene (PS)
Polystyrene, abbreviated as PS, is a polymer of styrene. According to the polymerization process, it can be divided into bulk polymerization, solution polymerization, suspension polymerization, emulsion polymerization, and isotactic polymerization products. The molecular formula is -[CHC6H5-CH2]-n. Currently, the industry mainly uses bulk polymerization and suspension polymerization. Polystyrene includes general-purpose polystyrene (GPPS), high-impact polystyrene (HIPS), and expanded polystyrene (EPS). The properties and characteristics of polystyrene PS are as follows:
China's methanol industry is experiencing a 'cold winter'.
Since 2019, and especially this year, the international situation has been complex and volatile. The sharp drop in oil prices and the impact of unprecedented events have dealt a heavy blow to the global economy, creating enormous downward pressure.
